This website
getdesks.app has no analytics, trackers, cookies or forms, and loads nothing from other sites. It’s hosted by Vercel, whose servers, like any web server, receive your IP address and browser details with each request, to deliver the pages and keep the site secure. We don’t use them to tell who you are.
Your windows
Desks works through the Accessibility permission. It reads the windows on your screen (their apps, titles, sizes and places) to arrange them, on your Mac. It never asks for Screen Recording: the thumbnails in its panel are drawn from your wallpaper and app icons.
Your desks, layouts, rules and settings are kept on your Mac, in Desks’s own folder, and leave it only in a .desks file you export yourself. None of it is sent to us or anyone else.
When you type a request to Desks’s assistant, Apple Intelligence handles it with the model on your Mac. What you type and what’s on your screen stay on your Mac.
Updates
Desks checks getdesks.app for a newer version. Each check, like any request on the web, carries your IP address and the usual details of a request, such as the version of Desks. Nothing about your windows or what’s on your Mac goes with it.
Buying Desks
When you choose Buy Desks, Desks opens the checkout in your browser. Paddle, our reseller and the merchant of record, runs it: it collects your email address, your payment details and your country (and postcode where tax needs it), under Paddle’s privacy notice. We never see your card details. Paddle tells us about your order (your email address, your country, what you bought and when), which we use to help you with your purchase and to keep our accounts.
Unlocking Desks on your Macs
To know that you’ve bought Desks, Desks asks RevenueCat, which keeps track of purchases for us. It knows you by an ID that iCloud gives Desks for your account: the ID belongs to Desks alone, and isn’t your name or your Apple Account’s email. Desks reads it from iCloud and stores nothing there. On a Mac without iCloud, RevenueCat gives that Mac a random ID instead.
Desks gives the checkout that ID, so the purchase is joined to it. RevenueCat receives the ID, your purchase, and the technical details of each request (such as the versions of Desks and macOS, and your IP address). It also receives your Mac’s model and preferred languages, and an identifier RevenueCat’s software takes from your Mac’s network hardware. RevenueCat uses these to check and restore your purchase, under RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
When you write to us
We use what you send to answer you, and keep the conversation for as long as that takes.
Who else handles it
- Vercel hosts this website.
- Paddle sells Desks, as the merchant of record.
- RevenueCat keeps track of purchases.
- Apple provides the iCloud ID, and Apple Intelligence on your Mac.
Some of them are in the United States. Where they handle personal data for us, they do it under data processing terms with the safeguards the GDPR requires.
Why, and for how long
We handle this data to sell you Desks and unlock it (our contract with you), to keep the site and updates working and secure (our legitimate interest), and to keep the records tax law requires (a legal obligation). Order records are kept as long as accounting and tax law require; purchase status, for as long as Desks needs it to unlock for you.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, to limit or object to how it’s used, or to have it in a portable form: write to support@caffeinatedcode.co. You can also complain to Croatia’s data protection authority, AZOP, or to the one where you live.
Changes
When any of this changes, this page changes with it, and so does its date.
